Privacy notice

Updated October 6, 2026

Memoraful is a free study app. This notice explains what stays in your browser, what is sent when you use online features, and how to turn off usage analytics.

Checking your browser preference.

This choice applies to the homepage and app on this website. Turning it off stops new analytics and removes this site's Google Analytics cookies. Studying still works. Choose separately on other browsers or devices.

Study materials and local storage

Sessions, uploaded materials, generated study content, progress, preferences, and personal API keys are saved in browser storage. Browser storage can persist between visits. You can manage study data in Settings → Data, or remove it through your browser. Clearing storage can erase local study work and preferences.

AI and Voice requests

Use of your personal Google Gemini API key is covered by Google's Gemini API Terms.

When you request an AI feature, the relevant prompts, study text, files, images, and context are sent to the provider used for that feature. Current integrations include Google Gemini, Groq, and Mistral. Some requests pass through a Cloudflare-hosted relay; some source files are temporarily stored with Backblaze B2 to process the request. Personal API keys are stored locally and used to authenticate requests, including through the relay where applicable.

Voice requires you to start the feature and grant microphone permission. Audio and relevant context are sent to its AI provider during use. You can disconnect Voice and revoke microphone permission in your browser. Provider services handle requests under their own terms and privacy practices.

Lecture Recorder uses your saved Google Gemini API key. Preparing a lecture sends its content to Gemini to extract terminology; recording streams microphone audio to Google for live transcription. During a disconnect, local audio recording continues and a bounded audio buffer is replayed after reconnection. While you record, the audio and finalized transcript are saved in your browser on this device about every 30 seconds and again when you finish, so you can return to them later; they are not uploaded to Memoraful. Starting a new recording for the same lecture replaces the saved one, deleting the session removes it, and clearing your browser's site data erases it. If you ask for a summary, the transcript (not the audio) is sent to Gemini to write it; the summary PDF is saved with the recording on this device.

Optional usage analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, device and browser categories, feature use, completed imports, generation outcomes and duration, and exports. It uses first-party cookies and online identifiers. Requests to Google also expose connection information such as your IP address. Analytics is on by default unless you turn it off or your browser’s privacy settings request an opt-out. It is optional and is not required for studying.

Our custom analytics events send fixed feature categories, outcomes, counts, and durations. They do not send study text, filenames, prompts, answers, API keys, or session and job IDs. Page metadata is configured to omit URL query strings and fragments and use a fixed page title. Google advertising signals and ad personalization signals are disabled in the site configuration. We do not use a session replay SDK.

Use the control above or the app's Privacy notice button → Privacy & Analytics to opt out. This stops future collection in this browser; it does not delete information already collected. Existing Google Analytics information is subject to the property's retention settings and Google's processing. Contact us about access or deletion requests.

Fonts and security services

Fonts are hosted with Memoraful, so loading them does not send font requests to Google. Cloudflare provides hosting, relay, and abuse protection services, which may process connection information and security checks when you access or use the app. Opting out of analytics does not disable these operational services.

Third-party information

Questions and data requests

Email [email protected] with privacy questions or requests about data associated with your use. We may need enough information to locate records and verify a request. Local study data is held in your browser, so you can usually manage it directly.
